Michael Levy was named managing director and head of traditional asset management at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, said an internal memo obtained by Pensions & Investments, the contents of which were confirmed by spokesman Matt Burkhard.
Mr. Levy replaces Arthur Lev, who will assume the new position of chairman of investment management.
Mr. Lev will work closely with Mr. Levy to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Mr. Levy will report to Gregory J. Fleming, president of Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
Mr. Levy was head of merchant banking and real estate investing capital markets at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Mr. Burkhard did not have details about a replacement by press time.
