El Paso fire and police pension fund makes commitment to Oaktree fund

El Paso (Texas) Firemen & Policemen Pension Fund committed $9 million to distressed debt fund Oaktree Opportunities Fund Xb, managed by Oaktree Capital Management pending legal review, said Mark Austin, deputy director, in an e-mail.

The $1.3 billion pension fund has a 10% target allocation to private equity.
