CalSTRS intends to hire AQR Capital Management and Pzena Investment Management to run international equity strategies, said a posting on the pension fund’s website Wednesday.
AQR is being hired to run a large-cap international enhanced equity strategy, while Penza will be running a large-cap value strategy.
A CALSTRS spokesman was unavailable to provide additional details, including the size of the allocations.
In addition, the $190.8 billion California State Teachers’ Retirement System, West Sacramento, has placed several dozen firms in a pool to be eligible to receive a contract at a future date. Those firms would be eligible for various equity strategies depending on their expertise.
They include Europe, Australasia and Far East large-cap core, value and growth; EAFE all-cap core, value and growth; EAFE small-cap core, value and growth; Europe core, value and growth; Europe small cap; Canada; and Japan core, value and growth.
