Wurts & Associates is changing the name of its business to Verus. Its consulting business will be named Verus Advisory Inc. and its discretionary management and outsourced CIO subsidiary, Verus Investors LLC.
The outsourced CIO unit was previously known as KEI Investments.
The changes are being made in light of firm founder William Wurts' sale of his remaining shares two years ago, said Jeffrey MacLean, CEO of Verus. Mr. Wurts sold most his majority control of the consulting firm in 2006 and sold the remaining “small sliver” in 2013, Mr. MacLean said.
“We have grown tremendously,” including developing an outsourced CIO business since Mr. Wurts reduced his role, he said. “We wanted a name that captures who we have become” Mr. MacLean said.
The name change does not impact the firm's ownership or management structure.
