Houston Municipal Employees Pension System committed $45 million to two alternatives funds, spokesman Peter Koops said in an e-mail.
The $2.5 billion pension fund committed $25 million to New Enterprise Associates 15, a venture capital fund, and $20 million to EnCap Energy Capital Fund X, an oil and gas fund managed by EnCap Investments.
The New Enterprise allocation falls under private equity, which has a 17.5% target, and the EnCap commitment will fall under inflation-linked assets, which has a 12.5% target allocation.
The pension fund previously committed to prior New Enterprise and EnCap funds.
