Oliver Bilal will join UBS Global Asset Management as head of global asset management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said an internal note by Ulrich Koerner, president of global asset management, and president EMEA, and obtained by Pensions & Investments.
A spokesman for UBS confirmed the appointment.
London-based Mr. Bilal, who will start May 4, replaces interim region head Andreas Schlatter. Mr. Schlatter took on the interim role in October, in addition to his current role as head of distribution, global asset management.
Mr. Bilal will report to Mr. Koerner. He will also join the executive committee for UBS GAM, and the UBS Group EMEA executive committee.
Mr. Bilal was previously CEO of Baroda Pioneer Asset Management Co., an India-based joint venture business between Pioneer Investments and Bank of Baroda. A spokeswoman for Pioneer said in an e-mail that Jack Lin, chairman of Baroda Pioneer, takes over the leadership of the business immediately.
