Corporate buyers snapped up 715 private equity portfolio companies in 2014 – 13% more than the prior year, according to Bain & Co.’s 2015 global private equity report, released Thursday.
According to the consulting firm, the total value of exits to strategic buyers ($303 billion) was 91% higher than 2013. Three deals exceeded $10 billion – Walgreen’s purchase of Alliance Boots, Zimmer Holdings’ deal for Biomet and Vodafone’s purchase of Spanish telecom firm Grupo Corporativo Ono.
