As of Jan. 31, CalPERS’ $293 billion portfolio was invested across 10 asset classes outlined by the fund. Public equities accounted for 52.6% of the portfolio, down from 54.2% in January 2014.
Fixed income was the second largest allocation (18.9%), up from 14.9% from a year ago -- the largest absolute change year-over-year. Private equity accounted for 10.2% of the portfolio, down from 11% in January 2014.
Through January, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System said its fiscal year return (seven months) was -0.8%, trailing its policy benchmark by 59 basis points.
