Alex Bernhardt joined Mercer as senior responsible investment consultant, tapped to lead its U.S. responsible investment team, a news release said.
Mr. Bernhardt, who started Monday, replaces Craig Metrick, who joined Cornerstone Capital in October as director, manager due diligence and thematic research.
Prior to joining Mercer, Mr. Bernhardt was a senior vice president at Guy Carpenter & Co., whose focus includes risk analytics and capital markets consulting in the insurance industry and, which like Mercer, is a unit of Marsh & McLennan Cos. He left Feb. 28, said Alayna Francis, Mercer spokeswoman, in an e-mail.
“Mercer's responsible investment team facilitates the integration of environmental, social and corporate governance considerations into investment management processes and ownership practices in the belief that these factors can have an impact on financial performance,” the news release said.
