Robert E. Grady will join private equity firm Gryphon Investors as a partner on March 2, a new position, spokeswoman Caroline Luz said in an e-mail.
Mr. Grady will head the firm’s general industries group. Mr. Grady had been an investor with Gryphon both in its funds and as a co-investor.
Mr. Grady is a managing director with private equity firm Cheyenne Capital. John Fitzgerald, managing director at Cheyenne Capital, could not be reached for information on a replacement for Mr. Grady.
In November, Mr. Grady resigned as chairman of the New Jersey State Investment Council, which oversees the $76.8 billion New Jersey Pension Fund, Trenton. From 2000 to 2009, Mr. Grady was a partner, managing director and global head of venture and growth capital at The Carlyle Group. He served as a senior policy adviser to President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1993.
