Todd Shupp was named chief investment officer of the University of Kentucky, Lexington, said Susan Krauss, treasurer of the university, in an e-mail.
It is a new position. The university is building internal investment capabilities for its $1.2 billion endowment. Mr. Shupp will report to Ms. Krauss.
Mr. Shupp, previously a manager research consultant for RVK, has consulted with the university on its endowment portfolio since 2008, according to an internal memo provided by Ms. Krauss. His duties at RVK have been assumed by existing staff members.
