However, the return did top CalSTRS' assumed rate of return of 7.5% and the 6.84% median return of public pension funds with assets of more than $1 billion in the Wilshire Trust Universe Comparison Service.
Statistics released by CalSTRS show its real estate portfolio returned 13.85% in 2014; private equity returned 13.83%, global equities, 6.75%; fixed income, 6.09%; and inflation sensitive, which includes TIPS and infrastructure, 4.04%, the lowest return of the asset classes.
