Dale MacMaster was named chief investment officer at the C$80 billion (US$64.5 billion) Alberta Investment Management Corp., Edmonton.
Mr. MacMaster replaces Leo de Bever, who retired as CIO and CEO in December.
Kevin Uebelein, who replaced Mr. de Bever as CEO, decided to have a separate CIO. “An asset manager of AIMCo's scale and complexity will function better, I believe, when there is a CIO who can dedicate 100% of his or her time to the business of investing,” Mr. Uebelein said in an e-mail.
Mr. MacMaster was executive vice president, public market investments. He will retain those responsibilities as CIO and will not be replaced.
