Susan Stang was promoted to director of investment administration for the New York City Teachers' Retirement System, said Matt Laskowski, a spokesman for the retirement system.
Ms. Stang is in charge of an aggregate $12.4 billion in variable annuities for the retirement system's 403(b) and 401(a) plans, Mr. Laskowski wrote in an e-mail. Ms. Stang was promoted Jan. 1.
Ms. Stang had been deputy director of investment administration. She succeeds Mark Katz, who died in June. Following his death, Ms. Stang had been the lead investment executive for the 403(b) and 401(a) plans until her promotion, Mr. Laskowski wrote.
“Filling Ms. Stang's previous position is expected to occur during the first quarter of the year,” Mr. Laskowski added.
