BlackRock's assets under management totaled $4.652 trillion as of Dec. 31, up 3% from three months earlier and up 8% from a year earlier, said the company's earnings statement released Thursday.
Net inflows to BlackRock's long-term strategies were about $87.8 billion in the fourth quarter, reflecting inflows of $48.4 billion in fixed income, $28.7 billion to equities, $9.7 billion into multiasset strategies and about $1 billion to core alternatives.
BlackRock's iShares business saw long-term net inflows of $44.2 billion; its institutional business registered $20.6 billion in net inflows; and retail, $23 billion.
Assets in the iShares exchange-traded fund business totaled $1.024 trillion, up 5% from three months earlier; institutional assets rose 2%, to $2.78 trillion as of Dec. 31; and retail assets in the quarter also rose 2%, to $525.48 billion. The rest of the assets are in short-term cash management.
