Shakil Riaz was named head of U.S. alternative portfolio management and global chief investment officer for alternative investments at Rothschild Asset Management, a news release said.
It is a new position; Mr. Riaz will oversee the firm’s hedge fund business, providing assistance on strategic asset allocation and portfolio allocation. He will start in early April.
Mr. Riaz was a managing director at hedge funds-of-funds manager Arden Asset Management, where he also was a member of the investment committee. Before Arden, Mr. Riaz was the chief investment officer of J.P. Morgan’s Chase’s internal hedge fund program.
Also, Anthony Marzigliano, who worked with Mr. Riaz at Arden and J.P. Morgan, will also join Rothschild in April as a managing director.
It is a new position. Further details on Mr. Marzigliano’s role could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Marzigliano was a managing director at Arden focusing on global macro and credit research.
A spokesman for Arden said Messrs. Riaz and Marzigliano’s duties would be assumed by existing staff members.
A spokesman at Rothschild declined to speak on the record beyond the news release.
