Geir Espeskog, a BlackRock managing director and the firm's head of iShares for the Nordics, has been named iShares head of distribution for the Asia-Pacific region, effective Jan. 1.
For the Hong Kong-based position, Mr. Espeskog replaces Heather Pelant, who moved back to the U.S. in June to run BlackRock's U.S. wealth advisory business.
A search is underway to fill the Nordics role, said a BlackRock spokesman in an e-mail.
BlackRock on Friday also announced the transfer of two additional iShares veterans to its operations in Asia.
Jason Miller, a New York-based director and head of broker-dealer relationship management, will take up the role of head of iShares Japan, effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Miller replaces Junichi Kamitsubo, who left BlackRock at the end of September, according to the spokesman. A search is underway to fill Mr. Miller's previous role.
Meanwhile, Sean Cunningham, a London-based director and head of broker-dealer execution services EMEA, will transfer to Hong Kong to take up the role of head of iShares capital markets for the Asia-Pacific region, effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Cunningham replaces Susan Chan, who was named head of iShares Asia-Pacific on Sept. 29.
Ms. Chan replaced Jane Leung, who returned to the U.S. to take on a new, yet to be announced role for BlackRock's iShares business.
A search is underway to fill Mr. Cunningham's London-based role.
Finally, the news release announced that Jonathan Howie, a Sydney-based director and head of ETF product and strategy for iShares, took on the role of head of iShares Australia, effective Nov. 5. The BlackRock spokesman said Mr. Howie effectively takes on a title for a role he was already filling, and has retained his previous responsibilities.
