South Dakota Investment Council, Pierre, made two new energy fund commitments totaling $222 million, said Tammy Otten, assistant investment officer, in an e-mail.
The council committed $150 million to Riverstone Global Energy and Power Fund VI, managed by Riverstone Holdings, for the $10.6 billion South Dakota Retirement System.
The council also committed $22 million to the Riverstone fund proportionally from among the $503 million Education Enhancement Trust Fund, $302 million Dakota Cement Trust Fund, $257 million School & Public Lands Fund and $136 million Health Care Trust Fund.
The council previous invested in the two predecessor funds.
Separately, the council committed $50 million to Blackstone Energy Partners II, managed by Blackstone Group, for the South Dakota Retirement System. The council has previously invested in three Blackstone private equity funds and eight Blackstone real estate funds.
