New Mexico Educational Retirement Board, Santa Fe, committed $70 million to two alternative investment strategies, said Bob Jacksha, chief investment officer for the $11.3 billion pension fund, in an e-mail.
The investment committee committed $30 million to private equity firm Blue Road Capital, which invests in agriculture and commodities companies, and $40 million to Ares Special Situations Fund IV, a debt and credit fund managed by Ares Management.
Blue Road is a new relationship. Ares is an existing manager for the pension fund.
