Daniel Matjila was named executive director and CEO of the 1.6 trillion South African rand ($151.3 billion) pension fund Public Investment Corp., Pretoria, South Africa.
Mr. Matjila, who has been chief investment officer of the pension fund since 2005, took on his new duties Dec. 1, a statement from South Africa's Ministry of Finance said.
Mr. Matjila replaced Elias Masilela, who resigned June 30. Matshepo More, chief financial officer, has been acting CEO since Mr. Masilela's departure.
Details regarding Mr. Matjila's CIO position could not be learned by press time.
