Stamford (Conn.) Firefighters’ Pension Fund hired Apex Capital Management to run $7 million in active domestic smidcap growth equities, recently released board meeting minutes said.
Funding comes from the $125 million pension fund’s termination of Neuberger Berman from a $7 million active domestic midcap equity portfolio. A reason for the termination was not given.
The board also interviewed midcap equity managers Scout Investments and Teton Advisors.
John Beirne Jr., founder and chief investment officer of Beirne Wealth Consulting, the pension fund’s investment consultant, did not return a phone call seeking further information by press time.
