Hugh O'Reilly on Thursday was named president and CEO of OPTrust, Toronto, effective Jan. 1.
He replaces William Hatanaka, who announced earlier this year that he would leave the manager of the C$16 billion (US$14.1 billion) Ontario Public Service Employees Union Pension Plan, Toronto. Mr. Hatanaka will depart on Dec. 31, said Karen Danylak, OPTrust spokeswoman. His plans have not been announced.
Mr. O'Reilly is head of the pension benefits and insolvency practice group at the law firm of Cavalluzzo Shilton McIntyre Cornish. In an interview, Mr. O’Reilly said he would remain with the law firm through the end of the year and would be replaced there by Amanda Darrach, partner.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity at OPTrust,” Mr. O’Reilly said.
