Wesley Machida is resigning as executive director of the $13.9 billion Hawaii Employees' Retirement System to become the state’s director of finance and the head of the Department of Budget and Finance, he said in an interview.
Mr. Machida will replace Kalbert K. Young, effective Dec. 27. Mr. Machida said he did not know Mr. Young’s plans. Mr. Young could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Honolulu-based pension fund board will discuss plans for a replacement for Mr. Machida at its Dec. 8 meeting.
