Daniel Freel was promoted to strategy head of hedged equity at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, replacing Terra Fuller, who left to become director of research in Pritzker Group’s asset management unit.
Mr. Freel’s responsibilities include oversight of strategy analysis, manager sourcing and due diligence by the hedged equity team’s 36 analysts, said Greg T. Fedorinchik, senior managing director and head of the global client relationship team, in an e-mail.
Mr. Freel was previously a vice president in manager research group at Mesirow with a specialty focus on hedged equity strategies. Mr. Fedorinchik said a senior analyst will be added to the equity team “in the near future to continue to enhance the breadth and depth of our coverage.”
Ms. Fuller’s position at Pritzker Group is new, said Martha Arendt, a company spokeswoman, in an interview. Ms. Fuller’s duties at the family office include relationship management with external money managers, sourcing new investments, and oversight of manager analysis, due diligence and research processes.
Mesirow Advanced Strategies managed $13.8 billion as of Oct. 31 in customized and commingled hedge funds-of-funds strategies.
Ms. Arendt said Pritzker Group exclusively manages the assets of brothers Anthony and Jay Robert Pritzker and does not have external clients. Ms. Arendt said the company does not disclose the size of its assets as a matter of policy.
