Rory Tobin was named head of European distribution at State Street Global Advisors, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Tobin started Monday in the London office. He is responsible for leading and developing the European institutional and intermediary distribution business, and reports to Mike Karpik, senior managing director and head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“We have created this role to mirror investor needs and regulatory changes within the European distribution landscape,” Mr. Karpik said in a news release. He added that the appointment reflects the firm’s goal of expanding its presence in the European institutional market.
Mr. Tobin was previously global head of the investments and solutions group at Barclays’ wealth and investment management business. A spokeswoman for Barclays said he was replaced by Solomon Soquar in October.
