Christopher D. Hanson was named executive director of the $2.1 billion Austin (Texas) City Employees’ Retirement System, effective Jan. 12, said Stephen C. Edmonds, outgoing executive director.
Mr. Edmonds has served as executive director of the pension fund since September 2003. He will retire in February.
Mr. Hanson currently serves as the executive director of the Texas Pension Review Board. The board provides oversight, research, education, analysis and assistance to public pension funds in Texas, Mr. Hanson said.
Mr. Hanson said the pension review board could appoint an interim executive director at its Dec. 17 meeting and launch a search for a permanent replacement some time after that.
