Barbara J. Krumsiek, chairwoman, president and CEO of Calvert Investments Inc., won the 2014 SRI Service Award at the 25th annual SRI Conference on Nov. 11 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The honor is awarded annually to someone who has made several significant contributions to the “sustainable, responsible, impact” investment field.
Ms. Krumsiek was cited for her work as co-chair of the United Nations Environment Program-Finance Initiative from 2010 to 2012 and in launching the Calvert Women's Principles, a global code of corporate conduct focusing exclusively on empowering, advancing and investing in women in 2004.
Ms. Krumsiek is resigning as president and CEO of Calvert Investments in January. She will remain chairwoman of the firm and also is founding chairwoman of the Calvert Institute, which will promote sustainable and responsible investing. “I'm stepping down, but I'm not stepping back,” Ms. Krumsiek said in an interview, adding she wants the Calvert Institute to answer “the burning questions in the field of SRI that aren't being answered.”
The SRI Conference is produced by Colorado Springs-based First Affirmative Financial Network LLC. The award was presented by last year's recipient, Geeta Aiyer, president and founder of Boston Common Asset Management.
