The New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, committed $10 million to Northstar Equity Partners IV, which is managed by Northstar Advisors, according to a posting on the website of state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the sole trustee of the $180.7 billion pension fund.
The Northstar commitment was made through the Asia Alternatives III New York Co-Investment Pool Asia, which is a separate account formed to invest in Asia private equity, wrote Matthew Sweeney, a spokesman for the comptroller, in an e-mail. It is the first commitment to Northstar.
Separately, the pension fund made an additional $100 million investment with First Pacific Advisors, which pursues a U.S. small/midcap value equity strategy, Mr. Sweeney wrote. Previously, the pension fund had invested $200 million with First Pacific Advisors.
