Marc Wyatt was named deputy director of the SEC’s office of compliance inspections and examinations, the agency announced Monday.
Before joining the Securities and Exchange Commission in December 2012, Mr. Wyatt was a principal and senior portfolio manager at hedge fund firm Stark Investments in London.
Mr. Wyatt is replacing Joy Thompson, who was acting director.
In April, Mr. Wyatt helped launch a special unit within the exam division to focus on private equity and hedge funds. He is also national co-coordinator of the OCIE’s Private Fund Specialized Working Group.
In a statement, OCIE Director Andrew Bowden praised Mr. Wyatt’s “exceptional drive, judgment, and knowledge of the industry,” and said that he “will continue to be an effective advocate for investors.”
