Vice Media Inc. topped the list of largest U.S. venture capital investments during the third quarter of 2014. The firm raised $500 million in the third quarter – half from Technology Crossover Ventures and the other $250 million from A&E Networks.
Data analysis software firm Palantir Technologies narrowly edged out Houzz -- a home design website -- for the second-largest investment in the quarter.
In total, U.S. venture capital firms invested $9.9 billion in 1,023 deals in the third quarter of 2014, according to the MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association based on data provided by Thomson Reuters.
