Arizona State Retirement System, Phoenix, made a total of $325 million in new private equity and real estate commitments, said a recently released private markets committee report.
The $33.3 billion pension fund committed $100 million to Blackstone Property Partners, an open-end core-plus real estate fund managed by Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, and $75 million to Blackstone Energy Partners II, an energy and natural resources private equity fund managed by Blackstone Group.
Also, the pension fund committed $75 million to Centerbridge Capital Partners III, a distressed debt fund managed by Centerbridge Partners.
The pension fund also committed $50 million to Related Energy Focused Real Estate Fund managed by Related Cos., a partnership that will “invest in residential properties, primarily apartments, in areas of energy development and tight housing conditions,” according to the report.
The pension fund also committed $25 million to a co-investment with Apollo Global Management “in the acquisition of certain energy assets from Encana Corp.,” according to the report.
Gary Dokes, chief investment officer, did not reply to requests for further information by press time.
