Eighty-one U.S. venture capital funds raised $6.5 billion in the third quarter of 2014, according to Dow Jones VentureSource.
J.P. Morgan Digital Growth Fund II was the largest fund of the third quarter, raising just under less than $1 billion in its first close.
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers' KPCB Digital Growth Fund II was the second-largest in the quarter, raising $750 million.
Through the first three quarters of 2014, Dow Jones VentureSource said the median fund size was $119 million.
