The aggregate deficit of occupational pension funds in the U.K. Pension Protection Fund’s 7800 index decreased 2.4% to £166.5 billion ($265.2 billion) in September.
Total liabilities were £1.364 trillion as of Sept. 30, down 1% compared with Aug. 31, while total assets also decreased slightly, by 0.8% to £1.1975 trillion.
The funding ratio increased slightly to 87.8%, up almost one percentage point compared with August.
The proportion of the 6,150 pension funds covered by the index that were in deficit and in surplus remained unchanged from August, with 74.8% in deficit and the remaining 25.2% in surplus.
