Christopher P. McCarthy Tuesday was named managing director and head of institutional sales at Horizon Kinetics, said a company spokeswoman.
He replaced Steven Butler, who in 2012 joined Artisan Partners as head of institutional sales and client service.
Mr. McCarthy will be responsible for sourcing and maintaining relationships with pension plans, endowments, foundations, advisers and consultants, and other institutional investors. He will also oversee institutional business development and marketing efforts related to the firm's investment strategies.
He will report to Doug Kramer, CEO of Horizon Kinetics.
Mr. McCarthy was senior vice president of institutional sales at Delaware Investments. The company is currently seeking a replacement, said Delaware Investments spokeswoman Amy Ponticello.
Horizon Kinetics is an investment and research firm with approximately $10 billion in assets under management.
