Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Austin, issued an RFP for a consultant for the Texas Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board.
The tuition board administers the state's $1.4 billion Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan, $564.5 million Texas Tuition Promise Fund, $321.3 million Texas College Savings Plan, $181.2 million LoneStar 529 Plan, and other programs.
The selected firm will assist in developing and evaluating RFPs for investment and plan management services, and identify and apply best practices of the 529 industry, among other services.
The search is being conducted due to the upcoming contract expiration of incumbent AKF Consulting, said Chris Bryan, spokesman for the comptroller, in an e-mail. AKF's contract expires on Dec. 31. The firm is invited to rebid.
Hewitt EnnisKnupp is the tuition's board's investment consultant, Mr. Bryan wrote.
The RFP is available on the comptroller's website.
The deadline for proposals is 2 p.m. CDT on Oct. 31. A hiring decision is expected Nov. 18.
