Jeremy Allcock was appointed head of infrastructure debt at Standard Life Investments, as SLI looks to build a team to cover the asset class.
Mr. Allcock will report to Craig MacDonald, head of credit, and will be based in London.
Further appointments to the new team are expected to follow, according to a news release from SLI.
The team will focus on providing long-term senior debt for core infrastructure projects in the U.K., and across selected markets in Europe. It will cover transportation, social infrastructure and energy.
SLI's fixed-income team manages more than £29.5 billion ($47.1 billion) of investment-grade credit, of which about £3 billion is invested in infrastructure and similar assets.
Mr. Allcock previously was head of project finance (public sector) at Nationwide Building Society.
A spokeswoman for SLI did not respond to requests for comment by press time.
