Simon Finn was named head of the new European principal investments group of hedge fund and alternative investment manager CQS (U.K.), said Michael Rummel, a CQS spokesman.
It is a new position. Mr. Finn will lead a team focused on distressed debt investments opportunities, mostly in Western Europe, as banks deleverage their balance sheets by selling non-performing and non-core loan portfolios.
CQS is searching for additional distressed debt specialists to join Mr. Finn’s group.
Mr. Finn was managing director in Apollo Global Management’s distressed debt unit, based in the company’s London office and left about a year ago. Charles V. Zehren, an Apollo spokesman, declined to comment on Mr. Finn’s successor.
CQS managed $13.5 billion as of June 30.
