Michael J. McNamara was named senior managing director and global head of real estate investments within the private markets division of Manulife Asset Management, said Manulife spokeswoman Beth McGoldrick.
The position is new. Mr. McNamara is responsible for developing and implementing the company's global real estate investment strategy, focusing on both institutional investor accounts and Manulife's general fund. He is based in New York and reports to Kevin J. E. Adolphe, president and CEO of Manulife Asset Management’s private markets division and Manulife Real Estate.
Mr. McNamara was senior vice president and head of acquisitions and dispositions at Brookfield Office Properties. Brookfield spokesman Andrew Willis said Mr. McNamara was not replaced; his responsibilities were divided among executives at Brookfield Property Partners, which merged with Brookfield Office Properties earlier this year.
