Lou Eccleston was named CEO of TMX Group, operator of the Toronto and Montreal stock exchanges among other Canadian equity, fixed-income and energy trading venues.
Mr. Eccleston replaces Thomas Kloet, who announced in March that he would retire; his last day at TMX will be Oct. 31. Mr. Eccleston will take over the post on Nov. 3, TMX announced Monday in a news release.
Mr. Eccleston was chairman of S&P Dow Jones Indices and president of financial information provider S&P Capital IQ, both subsidiaries of McGraw-Hill Financial. He left McGraw-Hill in July.
Imogen Dillon Hatcher replaced him as acting president of S&P Capital IQ. Doug Peterson, CEO and president of McGraw-Hill Financial, will assume the chairman duties at S&P Dow Jones Indices, said spokesman David Guarino.
Carolyn Quick, TMX spokeswoman, could not be reached by press time for further details.
