Prapatpong Weeramon has been appointed managing director of Amundi Group’s new wholly owned subsidiary in Bangkok, Amundi Mutual Fund Brokerage Securities (Thailand), the company announced.
Amundi’s new sales and client service office in Bangkok will look to pursue both institutional business as well as serving local investors through distribution relationships with securities companies, bank-backed money managers, insurance companies and global distributors, an Amundi news release said.
Amundi has become the first foreign money manager in Thailand to get a license to distribute funds under the ASEAN Collective Investment Scheme, which currently covers the markets of Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, the news release said.
Mr. Weeramon was director, financial institutions group in banking company ANZ’s Thailand representative office.
Emily Kinnear, a Melbourne-based spokeswoman for ANZ, said a replacement for that Bangkok-based role will be announced in the near future.
