Stephen Blyth was named president and CEO of Harvard Management Co., effective Jan. 1.
He replaces Jane Mendillo, who announced in June that she will leave HMC at the end of 2014, said a news release from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.
Mr. Blyth joined HMC in 2006. He now is managing director and head of public markets and oversees investment of about 40% of Harvard’s $36.4 billion endowment, which HMC manages, according to the university’s release.
Information about a replacement for Mr. Blyth’s current position could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Blyth is an alumnus of Cambridge and Harvard universities. He also served as a professor of statistics at Harvard over the past few years.
