Nevada Public Employees' Retirement System, Carson City, will interview State Street Global Advisors in October, potentially to run about $1.5 billion in passive international equities, said Stephen J. Edmundson, investment officer.
The $33.8 billion pension fund's board will interview SSgA at its Oct. 15 meeting to decide whether to have two managers for its 18% target allocation to international equities. Mellon Capital Management, now the sole manager, runs $4.5 billion. Both portfolios would be MSCI EAFE index funds, Mr. Edmundson said.
The board had decided in May to move to a fully passive portfolio from 75% passive/25% active. Active managers Franklin Templeton and Manning & Napier, which each had run about $770 million, were terminated. Those assets have been added temporarily to Mellon's portfolio.
