Wikimedia Foundation, San Francisco, hired U.S. Trust as its first investment consultant, said Garfield Byrd, chief of finance and administration, in an e-mail.
The foundation issued an RFP in July after adopting its first investment policy. Foundation assets total $59.1 million: $31.5 million in operating assets, $21.6 million in a short-term reserve fund and $6 million in a new long-term reserve fund.
Other finalists were Milliman, Northern Trust, Rockefeller & Co. and Vanguard Group.
