Jeffrey L. Gould was named head of global institutional management at Putnam Investments, said company president and CEO Robert L. Reynolds.
Mr. Gould replaces Joe Phoenix, who left the firm late last year. Further information about Mr. Phoenix could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Reynolds did not disclose an official start date; he said Mr. Gould “will be joining in the near future.”
Mr. Gould will oversee the firm’s global institutional asset management business. He will be based in Boston and report to Mr. Reynolds. He will also join the firm’s operating committee.
Mr. Gould is currently managing director, head of U.S. institutional marketing at Lazard Asset Management. Charles Carroll, deputy chairman and head of global marketing at Lazard, will assume his responsibilities in addition to his own while the firm reviews the need for seeking a full-time replacement, said a spokeswoman for Lazard.
Putnam and its affiliates managed about $75 billion in institutional assets as of June 30.
