Diego Gradowczyk was named senior managing director and co-head of emerging markets at alternative investment manager Marathon Asset Management.
Mr. Gradowczyk will share oversight of Marathon’s emerging markets group with Gabriel Szpigiel, a partner and co-head.
Mr. Gradowczyk’s position is new, said Ryan FitzGibbon, a Marathon spokeswoman, in an e-mail.
“Emerging markets is one of our core competences and main strategic areas of focus,” said Louis Hanover, Marathon’s co-managing partner and chief investment officer, in a news release.
Mr. Gradowczyk was head of emerging markets trading at Barclays, based in the firm’s New York office.
Mark Lane, a Barclay’s spokesman, did not respond to an e-mail request for more information about Mr. Gradowczyk’s replacement.
Andrew Szmulewicz also joined Marathon’s emerging markets group as director, a new position, Ms. FitzGibbon said. Mr. Szmulewicz was executive director in the global index research group at J.P. Morgan Chase.
Amanda Smith, a J.P. Morgan spokeswoman, declined to comment on Mr. Smulewicz's replacement.
Marathon has $12.5 billion in assets under management.
