The Credit Suisse Hedge Fund index was up 3.42% in the first eight months of the year, according to the firm's latest performance summary, released Monday. The overall index rose 0.88% in the month of August, after falling 0.31% in July.
Event-driven funds lead all substrategies in the index, up 5.25%, driven largely by distressed funds, which were up 5.72% year to date.
Managed futures were the second-highest substrategy, up 4.57% year to date after gaining more than 5% in August.
