Joseph A. Fox was named interim executive director of the $8.5 billion Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System, Oklahoma City, effective Nov. 1, said Tom Spencer, outgoing executive director.
Mr. Fox is currently the general counsel for the pension fund.
In August, Mr. Spencer was named executive director of the $14.1 billion Oklahoma Teachers' Retirement System, Oklahoma City, where he had been filling in as interim director since March. Mr. Spencer replaced James Wilbanks, who was terminated by the OTRS board in October.
OPERS will form a search committee to find a permanent executive director, Mr. Spencer said. A timeline for a hiring decision has not been set.
OPERS will most likely rely on its external counsel, Phillips Murrah P.C., while Mr. Fox is serving as interim director, Mr. Spencer said.
