Sherri King, managing director for fixed income and risk management for the $6 billion University of Virginia Investment Management Co., Charlottesville, died Sunday of a cerebral blood clot. She was 39.
Ms. King, who grew up in Charlottesville, joined UVIMCO in March 2012. Before that, she held several senior positions at Wall Street firms including Stifel Nicolaus & Co., J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Bear Stearns Cos. and Credit Suisse First Boston.
One of four senior members of the UVIMCO management team, Ms. King was “one of the most special people I have ever worked with,” said Lawrence E. Kochard, UVIMCO’s CEO and chief investment officer, in an interview. “She had that rare combination of talent and ability to work with other people, and to bring people together. She was incredibly talented, incredibly nice, and she will really be missed. It’s really a loss for us.”
