Michael Roberge was named co-CEO at MFS Investment Management, spokesman James Aber said.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, Mr. Roberge will oversee the firm along with MFS chairman and current CEO Robert Manning. Mr. Roberge is currently president and chief investment officer at MFS. He will retain those titles after his promotion goes into effect.
In the new co-CEO structure, Mr. Roberge will take on more of the day-to-day operations of the firm, while Mr. Manning will focus on the company’s overall strategic direction and work with MFS’ clients and intermediaries.
Mr. Roberge will report to Mr. Manning, while Mr. Manning will continue to report to the board of directors of MFS’ parent company, Sun Life Financial.
In addition, also effective Jan. 1, Kevin Beatty, MFS director of equity, North America, will be promoted to CIO, global equity, and William Adams, director of fixed income, will be promoted to CIO, global fixed income. Both Messrs. Beatty and Adams will report to Mr. Roberge and retain their previous duties after January.
MFS managed $438.1 billion in assets as of Aug. 31.
