Said Saffari was named executive vice president and portfolio manager for emerging markets at PIMCO.
Mr. Saffari, who will focus on company debt, started Monday at Pacific Investment Management Co. He reports to Michael Gomez, managing director and head of emerging markets portfolio management, according to a news release.
Mr. Saffari most recently was a partner and portfolio manager at GoldenTree Asset Management, which oversees about $21 billion in assets. No information was available on a replacement at GoldenTree.
“Said is a tremendous addition to our team as clients continue to increase allocations to emerging markets,” Mr. Gomez said in the statement. “The asset class has expanded well beyond government bonds to increasingly include corporate issuers as well as more complex security structures.”
